The Texas Women's Music Festival is an annual event on June 8th, 2019 3-9 pm at 2505 Princeton Ave. in Austin, TX USA. 2016 was the first year of the festival. We want to represent the incredible creativity and diversity of women artists from all genres. All the music is performed and written by women. This year's artists are: The Therapy Sisters, Nancy Scott, Jana Pochop, Shawnee Kilgore, Jamie Taylor, Kate Howard, Meg Barnhouse. Harriet Reynolds,, Kiya Heartwood , Lisa Litman and Millie Marlow, and Gail Marsh.

Jean Synodinos delivers grit, grace and acoustic soul with a voice that's been hailed by critics as “big league” and "show-stopping." Her award-winning writing digs deep, moving from large affirmations to little ironies, giving pain, honesty, and love equal footing.
Her fourth album, love & blood, recently entered the world as a multi-media digital experience with extensive liner notes, artwork, essays, and videos. This modern take on the album experience can be downloaded and streamed at www.loveandblood.org. Early reviews for love & blood have compared it to Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks, Joni Mitchell's Blue, and the poetry of Leonard Cohen. She was recently declared a Top 10 Finalist in the 2015 Austin Music Awards in the categories of Best Songwriter and Best Folk Act, and songs from the new album have won first place in the International Song Door Competition and placed as finalists in the Great American Song Contest.
Jean is immensely proud to work with Jail Guitar Doors, bringing guitar and songwriting classes each week to incarcerated women at the Travis County Correctional Complex. A prolific painter, Jean and her superior dog Freida live in a little house with a big yard and a modest garden.
NANCY SCOTT, has been performing in and around Austin for over 30+ years at venues such as Emma Joes, the Chicago House, Chances, the Cactus Cafe, BookWoman, Rusty’s and Patsy’s Cowgirl Cafe. She currently hosts Patsy’s Songwriting Circle once a month and is involved with BookWoman’s quarterly Equinox and Solstice events. She also performs at house concerts, parties, benefits, festivals and does kid’s shows.
Her Recordings:
•Both Sides of Me, 1987, producer, Lisa Byrd, is a balance of humorous and serious songs with great musicians and back-up singers.
•HeartPrints in Clay, 1995, producer, Betty Elders, who says these songs “represent a more serious, yet ever hopeful side of Nancy’s soul.” Again the musicians and singers, who played, give it such essence!
Meg Barnhouse grew up in North Carolina and Philadelphia. After graduating from Duke University and Princeton Theological Seminary she spent a chapter of her life in Spartanburg, SC, working first as a college chaplain teaching Public Speaking, Human Sexuality, and World Religions, trying not to get them mixed up. Earning her credentials as a Pastoral Counselor, she ran her own counseling practice while raising her two sons who are now in their twenties. She was active in the community, preaching and teaching in many churches, recording commentaries for NC Public Radio and "Weekend All Things Considered," serving as Interim Minister in several congregations and helping to found the SAFE Homes Network for battered women. Along the way she earned a second-degree black belt in American Karate. She finished up that southern chapter with seven years as the minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spartanburg.After serving as the Interim Minister at the UU Congregation of Princeton, Meg is now the settled minister at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin.
She travels nationwide as a speaker, singer/songwriter and humorist.Often her wife, award winning singer/songwriter Kiya Heartwood accompanies her.

The Therapy Sisters believe that music and laughter are the best medicine. We compose and perform songs that lead to thought, laughter, and wiggling. Formed way back in the 80’s, we consider playing music as an addiction we are unwilling to give up. Kiya Heartwood
Kiya Heartwood is an award-winning singer-songwriter based in Austin, Texas who has just released her twentieth CD, Little Wars. Heartwood’s career has taken her from major label band Stealin’ Horses to the thoughtful folk of Wishing Chair, and she spent 2015 touring her one woman show, Song Tales from the American Edge in Ireland and the UK. Dirty Linen writes that Kiya's music "serves up a lively batch of original songs that follow on to two of the oldest traditions of folk music: storytelling and political broadside." Heartwood's driving acoustic rhythm and thoughtful vocal style brings Heartwood’s songs front and center, where they “tell untold stories, tug at your heartstrings, and give you glimpses of the delights of the world."
